My name is Amy Johnson and I'm the Watershed Coordinator for Storm Lake. I was hired by the Buena Vista County Soil and Water Conservation District on September 2nd, 2008. Prior to this position, I completed the first Rapid Watershed Assessment funded in Iowa on the Lower Big Sioux River in Plymouth, Sioux, and Lyon counties.

I graduated from Buena Vista University in 2006 with a degree in Biology. After college, I worked in the Cherokee County Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) office as a part-time federal employee, then as a district soil conservation technician. My duties included assisting agricultural land owners and producers in developing conservation plans and implementing conservation practices.

I feel very fortunate to have the opportunity to work in the Storm Lake area and look forward to getting to know watershed landowners, producers, and residents. Public support for water quality improvement in Storm Lake is incredible! This continued support, along with support and technical assistance from many different government agencies, will help ensure the health of the lake the community for the enjoyment of all.
